T"he best thing about a Lingua Musica Tour is that they have personally visited every hotel in their Itinerary and personally travelled all routes taken, so that there are never any nasty surprises. But best of all, they take us to small fascinating festivals, obtaining excellent tickets. The individual traveller would find it impossible to achieve the results of Lingua Musica's knowledge, built up over a life-time of travel, coupled with their on-going research."
Clive Stark, ABC Radio Arts Personality, Melbourne, Australia

Italian Festivals for Music Lovers
Rome, Florence, Perugia, Spoleto
June / July 2011
16 - 18 Days

Our tour incorporates a spectacular journey through the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Chianti, incorporating the very best of Europe's music lovers' festivals. We will be indulging in breathtaking scenery, art, history and culture, visiting Italy's major cities and medieval walled towns. We commence in the eternal city of
Rome, home to classic architecture, ancient monuments, and Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces. The Old City within the Aurelian Wall is a romantic, atmospheric place and surprisingly small, so that it can mostly be covered on foot. We will guide you on a voyage of discovery, through the Piazza Venezia and Piazza de Espagna and exploring sites such as The Pantheon, The Roman Forum and The Arch of Constantine. One cannot visit Rome without also paying tribute to the Renaissance masters, Michealangelo and Raphael, and the Baroque geniuses Bernini and Borromini, artist/architects who had so much influence on the development of this wonderful and inspiring city. Our Rome segment also includes day excursions to the magnificent Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa, with their extensive cypress gardens and many fountains. An opera performance at the ancient Baths of Caracalla is a breathtaking and memorable experience.

From Rome we  will visit Florence, before embarking on a journey of discovery to ancient towns in the region, such as the 12C Umbrian hill-town, Spoleto, home of the renowned 'Festival dei Due Mondi', Perugia, the attractive medieval capital of Umbria, where our main attraction  will be the prestigious Trasimeno Festival, creation of world renowned classical pianist, Angela Hewitt.

Florence is situated on the River Arno, which is spanned by the famous Ponte Vecchio, the only of Florence's bridges not to be blown up during the second world war. As the most important city for Renaissance art, Florence boasts a beautiful and historic Old Centre, truly a great monument to the power and wealth of the Medicis. During our time here, we will focus on the art and the architecture of this wonderful city, also exploring surrounding towns, Fiesole and the ancient San Gimignano, as well as the Chianti landscape, which features in much Tuscan art of the Renaissance.
